The Jongerius Pinion MGU e-bike is an e-bike hand-built in Vleuten, equipped with a Pinion MGU motor gearbox unit.

This revolutionary mid-motor for e-bikes combines the best of both worlds: a powerful brushless mid-motor with an internal, maintenance-friendly Pinion gearbox offering a choice of 9 or 12 gears in one.

The Pinion MGU has a peak power of 600 watts and torque of 85 Nm, with the engine being able to deliver up to 160 Nm of torque to the rear wheel in the smallest 4 gears.

With a motor weighing just 4 kilos and positioned stably in the center, this is the ideal e-bike for challenging mountain climbs (both with and without a heavy load). But it also handles fantastically on flat terrain.

What's unique is that at Jongerius you can put together your Pinion MGU e-bike entirely to your wishes and we will custom-build it for you in Vleuten.

German quality and also available with a unisex frame

In addition to the men's frame, we also supply this model with a lower entry unisex frame.

The Pinion MGU's central positioning in the bike's center provides stable handling and ideal weight distribution under all conditions. The central placement of both the engine and gears, along with the use of thru-axles, makes wheel removal easy (in case of a flat, for example).

Pinion produces the MGU engine in Denkendorf (Germany) according to the highest quality standards.

Because both the motor and gears are integrated into a single unit, shifting is seamless, both under load and from a standstill. Furthermore, the motor doesn't create any additional resistance when cycling with e-bike assistance. The resistance of the Pinion MGU motor is comparable to that of a traditional Pinion gearbox.

The Pinion MGU is unique and has a higher torque at the rear wheel than, for example, a Bosch Performance CX or Brose Mag Se mid-drive motor. In terms of noise level, the MGU is comparable to these two competing e-bike motors.

At Jongerius, we install the latest-generation Pinion MGU motor, which is significantly quieter than the first generation. Furthermore, the Pinion MGU mid-motor has a longer lifespan (approximately 100,000 km) than Bosch or Shimano motors, and Pinion offers repair options in Germany.

The 9-speed Pinion MGU E1.9 Motor/Gearbox Unit has a range of 568% and increments of 24.3% per gear, meaning the heaviest gear is 5.68 times heavier than the lowest gear. This makes the bike ideal for use in both hilly and flat conditions. For comparison: a 30-speed derailleur system has a range of 573%.

The Pinion MGU E1.12 Motor.Gearbox.Unit with 12 gears has a range of 600% and steps of 17.7% per gear, this means that the heaviest gear is 6 times as heavy as the lightest gear

The great thing about the Pinion Gearbox is that all steps between the gears are the same and there are no overlapping gears as with a derailleur system.

The Pinion MGU is filled with 125 ml of Pinion MGU oil which should be replaced once every 10,000 km.

Fit Mgu Master Node display integrated into top tube with handlebar controls

We've chosen to equip our Pinion MGU e-bikes with a Fit Master Node e-bike display, which is neatly integrated into the top tube of the bike frame. The display is easily operated from your handlebars with the Fit Remote Pure.,

By placing it in the top tube, you free up space on your handlebars and the display is less susceptible to damage.

This control unit allows you to easily turn the bike on or off and select your desired level of assistance. You'll also see important information like speed and range, all easily accessible.

If desired, you can also opt for a more comprehensive display, which we can mount on your handlebars. Alternatively, you can use the Drive screen in your phone's app as an additional display.

Electric shifting with the pinion Mgu trigger shifter

Manual electronic shifting with the Pinion MGU is lightning fast with the Pinion TE1 Smart.Shift trigger shifter.

With the Start.Select function automatically shifts the bike back to a pre-selected starting gear so that, for example, you can automatically ride away from a traffic light in a comfortable gear.

Select the Pre.Select With this function, the bike automatically shifts as soon as you stop your feet. The bike does this based on your speed and pre-selected cadence.

Do you choose the Auto.Select function, the bike shifts completely automatically based on your chosen cadence and this can be done both under load and when stationary.

The support modes of Pinion MGU

The Pinion MGU offers four levels of support: Eco, Flow, Flex, and Fly. Fly is the highest level of support and Eco the lowest.

The Flow and Flex modes are adaptive and dynamically adjust the support based on the pedal pressure supplied.

The special boost start-up aid button allows you to give the bike an extra boost in all support modes (except Fly), for example when riding away from a standstill.

The system also features a walk function that you can use when walking next to your bike while climbing a mountain or when walking up from an underground bicycle shed.

Connect your phone to the Fit app via Bluetooth

You can adjust the support level for each mode via the Fit app. Here, you can adjust the assist ratio, maximum torque, elasticity, and torque characteristics for Eco, Flow, Flex, and Fly modes.

You can also activate the Digital Key in the app. With the Digital Key, you can lock the components of the e-bike system while parking, preventing the e-bike's support from working until you unlock it again via the app.

The Geo-Range function allows you to use the app to estimate in advance whether the battery is sufficiently charged for the chosen route and, if desired, you can choose an alternative route.

The app also integrates with Komoot, allowing you to navigate via the app. In drive screen mode, you can use your phone with the app as a display for your e-bike.

To charge your phone battery while cycling, you can choose the SP-Connect E-cap wireless phone charger. Your phone battery will then charge wirelessly via your e-bike battery.

Removable battery and extra fit buddy pack

Our e-bikes with MGU motors come standard with a 535 Wh intube battery, which is neatly integrated into the frame. For an additional fee, you can upgrade this to an 800 Wh battery, allowing you to ride more kilometers on a single charge.

For the real mileage eaters, it is possible to mount an additional external range extender (buddy pack) of 240 Wh so that in combination with the intube 800 Wh battery you have a total of 1040 Wh of power available.

The Pinion E-Drive system uses the latest generation of lithium-ion battery cells and features an intelligent battery management system that protects the batteries against overload and potential malfunctions and problems.

All batteries can be charged in the bike via a charging port, so the battery doesn't need to be removed. If you live in an apartment or don't have a power outlet near your bike, you can easily remove the battery with the included key to the battery lock.

We supply a 3 amp charger which can be upgraded to a faster 4.8 amp charger for a small additional charge.

For this bike, we've chosen to fit thru axles to both the front and rear wheels so you can easily remove both wheels for transport or in the event of a flat tire.

Thanks to the latest Magura MT5 brakes with double brake pistons per caliper and 180 mm brake discs, you will always come to a safe stop.

This bike comes standard with the ultra-reliable Gates CDX Belt Drive with the highest-quality CDX Exp sprockets. This combination ensures minimal maintenance when used in all weather conditions.

By Jongerius SP Connect E-Cap wireless phone charger

A new option is the installation of a wireless phone charger. Your phone must have wireless charging capability to use this option.

We developed this wireless charger in collaboration with SP-Connect. Thanks to our 12V inverter between the battery, you can charge your phone wirelessly using the power from your e-bike battery.

Before departure, simply mount your phone on the handlebar mount and your phone will charge wirelessly during your ride.

For this charger, you need to have or purchase a suitable SP-Connect case. If you prefer to use your own case or no case at all, you can also opt for the universal wireless charger with clamp system, which you can also easily click onto the same holder.

Choose the best disc brakes from Fahrwerker

Want the best disc brakes on your bike? Then choose the F2000 disc brakes from the German brand Fahrwerker.

At Fahrwerker they have chosen not to work with a 4-piston brake system but with a more maintenance-friendly, extra-large 2-piston brake caliper.

Thanks to the 2 brake pistons with a diameter of no less than 28 mm, the brake pistons have a larger surface area than brakes from other brands with a 4-piston brake system.

The 2 mm thick stainless steel Fahrwerker brake discs, which are available in 180 or 200 mm, have a braking surface of no less than 20 mm high.

Extra long
By jongius fork

We developed the extra-long By Jongerius fork ourselves, allowing the handlebars to be raised for taller riders. This fork is made of aluminum but features an extra-thick steel tapered steerer tube for added strength. The fork also has mounting points for a Tubus Duo lowrider, but you can also choose to mount bottle cages, roof racks, or panniers on these mounting points.

The front fork is Boost for extra strength and features 15mm thru axles. Because the fork is tapered (1.5 inches), we can use larger headset bearings, which maintain their integrity even under heavy loads. The headset also features a 65-degree travel limiter, preventing the handlebars from tipping too far when carrying heavy luggage.

headlight bracket

As avid holiday cyclists, many people find it annoying that a standard headlight mount is often too short. This causes the headlight to shine against the front panniers on the lowrider instead of onto the road, a problem we also encountered at Jongerius.

When designing our By Jongerius headlight bracket, we focused on more than just length; we also wanted it to be the strongest bracket currently available. That's why we chose to make it from extra-strong stainless steel, preventing the headlight from vibrating during adventurous rides. The sturdy bracket ensures the light always shines over your front panniers, directing it precisely where you want it.

The By Jongerius stainless steel headlight bracket is matt black powder-coated and beautifully features a laser-etched Jongerius logo.

luggage rack

The Jongerius TravL Carrier is made of extra-strong CrMo steel, but the mounting points and pannier rails are made of stainless steel, preventing them from rusting if they are damaged by the hooks on your pannier.

The Jongerius TravL Carrier has lower positioned pannier racks but also an extra long and wide top surface (12 cm wide) so you can easily combine luggage on top of the carrier as well as panniers.

In terms of stability, the Jongerius TravL carrier is even more stable than the well-known Tubus luggage carriers. The Jongerius TravL Carrier is approved for up to 26 kg but has been tested with a load of 40 kg.

Strong wheels are essential for a bike designed for intensive use, so we've fitted this model with extra-strong By Jongerius wheels. These hand-spoked wheels with extra-wide 26mm (tubeless-ready) rims are suitable for a load of up to 200 kg (rider weight + bike weight + luggage weight).

With these hand-spoked wheels, the spoke holes are drilled at exactly the right angle to the hub, so that the rear rim is different from the front rim, which minimizes spoke breakage.

We also use special spoke nipples from Alpina which are provided with a locking agent so that the spokes will not vibrate loose under extreme loads.

Unique to this model is the choice between 27.5-inch wheels with 62 mm tires or 28-inch wheels with 50 mm wide tires.
